Beginning August 1, 2008, monthly tournaments will be re-introduced at selected venues throughout the state of Florida.  Venues will be selected for monthlies with certain criteria in mind.  FTT will start out slowly with the goal of eventually instituting monthlies at every venue.  These monthly tournaments will begin during the first week of September for the month of August.  This is how they will work:

At a venue selected by FTT, say Crickets for example, a monthly tournament for approximately $100 or more will be run during the first week of every month – in this case the first week of September – for the previous month.  If Crickets plays every Monday, then the monthly tournament will be held the first Monday of every month at Crickets.  A player becomes eligible for the Crickets monthly tournament by winning just one certificate during the previous month at Crickets, and will be playing against other Crickets tournament winners only.  For example, if 5 tournaments a night are held at Crickets (5 certificates awarded), and Crickets plays every Monday night throughout August, then there will be a maximum of only about 20 players competing for the monthly prize – probably much less due to multiple winners and possible no-shows.

Obviously, it would be possible for a player to qualify and play in at least 7 monthlies during that week at 7 different venues.  We will strive to expand our list of participating venues to make that possible.

All players will start with their normal starting stacks for the monthlies.  Additional chips will be awarded for multiple certificates won the previous month – probably 300-500 per win.  It will be the player’s responsibility to appear for the monthly at the announced time with his or her certificate(s).

All monthly tournaments will begin at least one hour before the start of the regular venue, in order for it to be completed before the regular tournaments begin.  Most of the time this will mean the monthlies will start at 6 PM.  Dealers will supply the name of the monthly winner to the FTT office and that person must call the office to schedule their sponsored buy-in.

A complete list of the initial venues that will begin holding monthlies will be posted by July 20^th, and that list will be easily accessible at all times on the front page of our website.  The list will be continuously expanded as new venues begin participating in the monthlies.
